Hats off to Reading Committees

The following committees have been created to conduct the Hats off to Reading event. Please post any work your committee has done, is doing etc. This will help us all stay informed of all the tasks and to make sure we are keeping the event organized. Feel free to ask any questions of committees.

Committee Organizer: Lauren Armstrong KDP Vice President of Reading

Publicity - Create flyers to distribute to schools. Tracy Wylie and Ashley Watson

Management - Decide on the way to keep track of centers/who will be facilitating centers/dress code. Samantha Ellis and Julie Heise.

Enhancing the Environment (wall decorations) - Remember these walls are huge and white: Kelley Gertner, Karianne Lopez, Maria Yovino, and Charlotte Joseph.

Center Labels: Amanda Press

Enhancing the Environement (tables): Ryan Anderson, Graham Smith, and Melanie Eng

Welcome - Directional signs posted in the library, door decorations, welcome table decoration: Christy Kelver and Ashley Bernardi

Sign in/Sign out - Create nametags for children, create certificates of participation for children to handout when leaving: Christa Robertson, Meg DeWell and Brynn Wozniak

Contact - contact our Lincoln impersonator, set up time, and what his responsibilites will be. The Lincoln impersonator is Chuck Vandersteldt cvande00@pnc.edu: Kim Cates

Photographer - requires a digital camera. Photograph the days events and put into a powerpoint presentation. - Becky Kohler

  1. For those learning clubs who are using consumable materials (Lincoln log cabins, hats, etc)please give me a price on the materials you will need for your center by Monday. We have some grant money to use for this.

    For any HATS OFF TO READING committee that needs to purchase items such as balloons for the environment. I will need an estimated price, where you will be purchasing the item(s).

    After your purchase I will need a receipt submitted to me.

    Toy group: Sam & Amanda: 9-11:30
    Becky & Brynn: 11:30-2:30

    Perseverance group: Christy & Ashley B.: 9-2:30
    Kim: 9-2:30

    Musical instrument group: Graham & Julie 11:30-2:30 Charlotte & Melanie: 9-11:30

    Log cabin Group: Ryan & Kelly: 9-2:30
    Maria: 9-11:00

    Lincoln hat group: Meg. 9-2:30

    Tracie, Christa and Ashely will be unable to attend.

  3. Here are some items that my group could use. If anyone happens to have some of the items we could really use them. Anyone that has items to donate please bring on Monday so we can see what we have. Thanks.

    shoe boxes and empty tissue boxes
    rubber bands
    small bells (if anyone has any)
    Yarn (color doesn't matter)or string,
    Plastic Easter eggs
    Rice or dry beans (for egg shakers)

  5. I have a box of craft sticks (Popsicle sticks) If the group building cabins wants them. Let me know.

I went to the library the other day and took a look at the room and the lady said that we are not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling and that we cannot use that sticky tack stuff because it leaves markings on the paint that will not come off. She said something about using double sided sticky tape.

    For the wall decorations group - We need to talk about what we are doing and decided what we are doing, so we can get supplies.
    So far I know we need
    *Construction paper
    *Double sided sticky tape (a lot)
    *Pictures from Internet
    *Large White paper for life size pics
    *Paint or markers for life size pics
    *Streamers
    *Anythings else????
    Let me know and I will purchase the items for Monday and bring in the reciept for Professor Pratt.
